ABOUT US

REAL CAPE ADVENTURES CC was founded in 1994 by Johan and Teresa Loots with a vision to share the joy of eco-friendly outdoor experiences with people from around the world. What began as a single operation quickly expanded to iconic locations including Hout Bay, Simon’s Town, Paternoster, St Helena Bay, Plettenberg Bay, as well as further afield in Namibia, Mozambique, Mauritius, and Madagascar. In 2012, Johan and Tereasa were instrumental in setting up the first kayak operation along the famous Camino in Spain. Inspired by its success, they brought the concept home to Plettenberg Bay, sparking the growth of the “Camino” trend in South Africa.

Their original Cape Kayak Camino has since evolved into the Plett Coastal Camino—a unique combination of coastal hiking and kayaking.

WHY PLETTENBERG BAY?

Plett is all about beaches, the rugged and beautiful coastline, marine life, coastal forest, the environs , beach culture, all abutted by the magnificent Tsitsikamma Mountains, the “place of many waters” of the Garden Route. The Camino has been designed to let participants enjoy and discover the “Real” Plett and just why it is rated one of Africa and the  world’s prime beach destinations and designated an international Hope Spot by the famous international oceanographer Dr Sylvia Earle ( add a youtube link to this). Besides hiking, we include at least one day’s estuary kayaking so  you don’t miss out on one of the best ways of experiencing the diversity of the ancient sailors’ “Baya Formosa”, the most beautiful bay.
